Terms of service
The terms for using Penn Local and for buying a listing upgrade or advert.
Last updated 3 October 2026
These terms cover using the Penn Local website and buying anything from us, such as a Featured or Spotlight listing, an event boost or a newsletter sponsorship. By using the site or buying from us, you agree to them. If anything here is unclear, contact us.
Who we are
Penn Local is a trading name of Digital Inspirations Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13658960). Our registered office is 5 Brenton Road, Wolverhampton, WV4 5NS. You can reach us at hello@pennlocal.co.uk.
Using the site
Penn Local is an independent community guide. We publish listings and events in good faith, but details such as opening hours, prices and dates can change. Check with the business or organiser before you travel or book. We're not responsible for the goods, services or events of anyone listed on the site.
Some listings are compiled from publicly available information. If you own a listed business and want it changed or removed, tell us and we'll deal with it promptly.
Free listings and submissions
Free listings are for businesses, clubs, groups, places and events in and around Penn. When you send us a listing, event, photo or other content, you confirm that:
- the information is accurate and you're entitled to share it
- you have permission to use any photos, logos or text you send
- you're happy for us to publish it on Penn Local, in our newsletter and on our social media, and to edit it for length, clarity or style.
We decide what to publish and may decline or remove any listing, for example if it's out of area, inaccurate, or breaks the content rules below.
Paid plans: Featured and Spotlight
Our current plans and prices are on the advertise page. Prices are in pounds sterling and include any VAT that applies.
- Payment. Plans are paid monthly in advance by card through Stripe, our payment provider. Your plan starts when your first payment goes through and renews automatically each month until you cancel.
- Setting up. We'll upgrade your listing, usually within one working day of payment. You can send us your logo, photos, opening hours, offers and links at any time.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your subscription page, or by emailing us. Your upgrade continues until the end of the month you've paid for, then your listing returns to a free listing. You won't be charged again.
- Refunds. Because you can cancel at any time, we don't refund part months. If we can't provide your upgrade for reasons within our control, we'll refund you for the time it wasn't available.
- Price changes. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email before changing the price of an existing subscription. You can cancel before the change takes effect.
One-off extras
- Event boost. We'll pin your event to the homepage for up to two weeks before it happens. Buy it at least a few days before your event; if there isn't enough time left for the boost to be worthwhile, we'll offer a refund.
- Newsletter sponsorship. Get in touch first and we'll agree which issue you'll sponsor, then send you a payment link. You'll be the headline sponsor of that issue of the monthly Penn Local email.
If we can't deliver an extra you've paid for, we'll refund you in full.
Content rules for listings and adverts
Everything you ask us to publish must be legal, honest and decent. It must not:
- be false or misleading, including claims about prices, offers or qualifications
- infringe anyone else's rights, such as copyright or trade marks
- promote gambling, adult content, weapons, illegal products or anything harmful
- be abusive, discriminatory or defamatory.
We may edit, refuse or remove content that breaks these rules. If we end a paid plan because of a serious or repeated breach, we won't refund the current month. If we end a paid plan for any other reason, we'll refund any unused time.
No guarantee of results
We work hard to get Penn Local in front of local people, but we can't promise a particular number of visitors, enquiries or sales from a listing or advert.
Websites
Website packages (shown on our websites page) are built by Digital Inspirations and covered by a separate written quote and agreement, which we'll send you before any work starts.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.
Otherwise, we're not liable for any indirect loss, or for loss of profit, business or opportunity. Our total liability to you for anything connected with a paid plan or extra is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose.
If you're buying as a consumer rather than for a business, you also have legal rights that these terms don't affect.
Privacy
Our privacy page explains how we handle your personal information.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change affects an active paid plan, we'll email you first.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
